Mark Zuckerberg confirms plans to add NFT to Instagram

April 1, 2022 By Crypto Reporter

Meta expects non-fungible tokens to be integrated in social networks in the near future

NFT could make an appearance on Instagram in the near future, said Mark Zuckerberg, head of Meta, at SXSW conference.

“We’re working on bringing NFTs to Instagram in the near term,” he said. “I’m not ready to kind of announce exactly what that’s going to be today. But over the next several months, the ability to bring some of your NFTs in, hopefully over time be able to mint things within that environment.”

Adam Mosseri, Instagram’s top executive, and other execs have previously showed enthusiasm about NFTs saying the company was “actively exploring” the technology. Mosseri called the NFT industry an interesting space, where the social network could help content creators.

Earlier this year Twitter added an option to connect NFTs to profile pictures. The feature became accessible to Twitter Blue subscribers on iOS platform. The users can link their profile page to a crypto wallet and select an NFT as profile picture.
