Companies That Accept Crypto as Payment in 2024

June 12, 2024 By Crypto Reporter PR

You may have heard quite a lot of controversial information about cryptocurrencies and their circulation worldwide. Some call them evil, while others invest in cryptocurrencies and profit from them. However, the main reason cryptocurrencies are still in operation is that people actually use them, and companies continue accepting payments in crypto. Here, we discuss some of the benefits of using crypto for companies and name some websites that accept Bitcoin, Ethereum, and others.

Advantages of cryptocurrencies for companies

Why should you consider crypto a payment method if you run your business?

  • Lower processing fee: If you accept crypto payments from customers right to your crypto wallet, you may avoid transaction fees. If you use third-party services to process transactions, you’d be charged. Still, it could be less than if you accepted payment via credit card.
  • More security over operations: Cryptocurrencies’ profound encryption makes fraud or theft of personal information impossible, which sets them apart from traditional payment methods.
  • Investment option: If you’re into investing and saving your earnings, you might consider investing in crypto since it’s a proven method of even doubling your savings. However, to gain profit, you should be aware of current market conditions.
  • Access to larger markets: As a merchant, the more payment methods you add to the checkout, the greater the chances of attracting more customers to your store and retaining them. For instance, some people prefer crypto over traditional currencies to avoid currency exchange when purchasing in a store.

Given these undeniable advantages, we might find quite a number of crypto enthusiasts. So, who accepts cryptocurrency? Which companies support crypto as their payment option?

Companies and stores that accept cryptocurrency nowadays

Shopify

The Shopify ecommerce platform allows merchants to add crypto payments to their checkouts. Among Shopify stores that accept cryptocurrency are primarily companies that provide digital products. You can use Strike, Lunu, OpenNode, and more as your gateways for adding new payment options. After you choose a payment service, you can accept any cryptocurrency supported by this service. Enabling an additional payment gateway doesn’t impact your other gateways. You may need to leverage Shopify checkout extensions to integrate additional payment methods into your checkout. If you’re seeking help from a developer in this regard, consider opting for Shopify integration services.

Subway

Some Subway fast food restaurants in Berlin offer Bitcoin purchases for sandwiches, drinks, and salads. You can also buy Subway gift cards with Bitcoin, Ethereum, Dash, and a few other cryptocurrencies.

Etsy

Even though Etsy doesn’t provide an option to pay in crypto, many merchants on this platform accept Bitcoin for their handmade products, jewelry, art, clothing, and more.

Starbucks

Starbucks accepts Bitcoin to reload Starbucks cards via their app. This way, you can purchase everything you like in famous coffee houses around the world.

Rakuten

Rakuten, a Japanese global company, allows you to purchase Rakuten Cash (the company’s e-money) with Bitcoin and other crypto assets. This way, the company lets users shop at Rakuten Pay and through Rakuten Point Card affiliates across Japan. McDonald’s is just one of Rakuten’s Point Card affiliates.

Burger King

In 2019, Burger King implemented Bitcoin payment on its delivery website and mobile app. Later, it started to accept crypto payments in nearly forty restaurants in Venezuela.

Namecheap

If you want to purchase a domain name with Bitcoin, choose Namecheap as your domain provider. This tech company began accepting crypto in 2013 and continues to support this payment option today.

Paypal

In conclusion, another great example of a famous company that supports cryptocurrencies is PayPal. Through the company’s app, you can buy, sell, hold, and transfer popular cryptos like Bitcoin and the new PayPal stablecoin. This makes it easy for a wider audience to leverage cryptocurrencies for their business and personal purchases and funds.
