RockX, a trailblazer in institutional-grade staking solutions throughout Asia, today announced the appointment of Paul Mischenko as Head of Americas. This move is part of its commitment to broaden its presence in the Americas, leveraging its well-established Asian base to drive this expansion.
RockX views both North and South America as critical to its growth. South America’s favourable regulatory climate and existing spot ETFs present an inviting landscape for growth. RockX also recognizes untapped potential in less developed markets where democratisation of financial services can offer substantial benefits. In the U.S. with its largest global capital markets, RockX anticipates increased institutional adoption with clearer regulatory frameworks. Prioritising early establishment of relationships with traditional firms is a key element of their strategy.
Paul Mischenko, a 25-year veteran of financial markets, brings valuable experience in trading, risk management, technology, governance, and regulatory reviews. His deep understanding of the digital assets landscape, built over the past five years, will play a pivotal role in RockX’s expansion strategy in the Americas. Previous collaborations include working with a crypto quant fund on an early-stage liquid coin venture fund.
Prior to RockX, Paul spent 15 years at HSBC, initially serving as the Head of FX Forwards & NDF Desk, then progressing to the Head of FX & Electronic Trading Americas in 2007, and ultimately leading the entire FX Business across the Americas from 2014. In addition, Paul was also a member of the New York Federal Reserve Chief Dealers Working Group. He holds an Honours Bachelors of Commerce degree from Queen’s University, Canada, and has been a CFA charter holder since 1996. Further enriching his credentials are specialised courses in Fintech, Blockchain, and Cryptocurrency from Harvard, MIT, and The London School of Economics.
As the Head of Americas, Paul will leverage his vast expertise to inform business strategy, provide insights on market and macro-economic conditions, facilitate the integration of digital assets and traditional finance, and steer RockX’s expansion in the Americas. He will also lead the scaling of the business, while maintaining governance and control, and managing treasury risk.
Chen Zhuling, CEO of RockX, said, “Paul’s distinctive expertise in financial markets and digital assets, coupled with his exemplary leadership acumen, makes him an invaluable addition to our team. This strategic move is aligned with our broader objective of leveraging our established leadership in Asia to provide a strong foothold and gateway for institutions in the Americas. With Paul’s contribution, we are confident in not only enhancing our presence in this region, but also fostering the adoption of our blockchain staking technologies, reaffirming our commitment to global blockchain access.”
“I’m excited to apply my experience to further RockX’s vision, especially in blending traditional finance with digital assets. I envision a future where all assets, contracts, and records are tokenised or traded digitally. This shift will minimise friction, enhance liquidity, and promote broader inclusion,” said Paul Mischenko. “RockX is a robust project, committed to building the necessary infrastructure to enable these technologies and to create a pathway for traditional firms into the digital assets space. We are at an early stage of this journey and adoption, but the potential to shape the industry’s direction is immense.”
