Edge, a secure mobile multi-asset wallet, today announced the first of a kind support for Monero (XMR) and Ripple (XRP) cryptocurrencies. As Ripple and Monero communities are growing, they try to tackle the issue of holding and using their currency. There is little to no support for user-controlled storing, sending or receiving the currencies on popular exchanges and wallets. Edge provides the storage and exchange of virtual money on a mobile phone, which will boost the mainstream adoption.
The use cases of both differ significantly: Monero features RingCT for anonymous transactions while Ripple serves as a more efficient monetary vehicle, popular in terms of liquidity, speed, and low transaction barriers.
“We’ve listened closely to our community over the last few months and found a strong demand for these currencies on the Edge platform. Both communities are different but they face the same issue: how do we hold and use our currency? Edge is proud to announce that they can now find that option here,” stated Paul Puey, CEO and co-founder of Edge.
He went on saying, “While solutions exist to gain price exposure and invest in these currencies, there are no options that let users hold, send, receive, and trade these currencies from a secure wallet they control, with no custodian, and alongside a dozen other crypto assets. This is all from the convenience of their mobile phone.”
Cryptocurrency forums and communities like Reddit (r/CryptoCurrency) frequently post questions about mainstream platforms adopting Ripple and Monero. Edge aims to be the first of many that will add support for the currencies, making them easy than ever to use in a completely secure way. With built-in support for Shapeshift, users also get a streamlined experience to exchange these cryptocurrencies for other assets such as Bitcoin, Bitcoin Cash, Ethereum, Augur (REP), and various other ERC20 tokens.
“It’s always a pleasure for ShapeShift to partner with a team that is willing to take on a daunting task like Monero support. Paul and the Edge team are building boldly and creatively; forging ahead, and seeing the fruits of their endeavors.” stated Shapeshift CEO, Erik Voorhees
