Waves Ducks Launch First-Ever Augmented Reality Web3 Game to Over 200,000 Players

August 12, 2022 By Crypto Reporter PR

Waves blockchain based, Play-2-Earn game Waves Ducks is announcing the full global launch of a new playing mode, Waves Duck Hunt. The launch signals the end of a highly successful six-week-long beta testing period, which kicked off at NFT.NYC on 20th June.

Duck Hunt is an augmented reality (AR) play-and-earn game that places players at the center of the action. Players use their phones to hunt for rewards in the form of “golden eggs” located within a localized 15km radius. The aim is to find as many golden eggs as possible before the timer runs out. As part of the launch, each golden egg provides a chance to win an NFT specific to the user’s region that can be used in a litany of games within the Waves Ducks Metaverse.

During the beta phase, players traveled more than 1 million kilometers — the equivalent of trekking 25+ times around the Equator. Over 14,000 golden eggs were discovered, with players achieving an aggregate of 50,000+ game hours in just six weeks. The Waves Ducks team builds on this success by integrating enhanced game mechanics into the full launch version of Duck Hunt. This will include the introduction of a new reward token, SPICE, used to evolve ducklings into fully-fledged Waves Ducks NFTs, as well as the addition of exciting new in-game items.

The Waves Ducks ecosystem is already an established and popular metaverse of games with over 200,000 monthly active users. Waves Ducks NFTs currently garner more than $800,000 in monthly sales volume on the Waves Ducks marketplace.

Each Waves Duck NFT is a collectible, a source of tangible rewards, and a character in an extensive network of online and offline games. Gamers can use their Waves Duck NFTs to earn rewards by racing and fighting ducks as individual players or as part of a gaming guild. Players can evolve and monetize their ducks using various strategies, including breeding, farming, and lending.

The launch will include eight new and extremely rare “Jackpot” Waves Ducks NFTs, that can only be found in the game and are specifically designed for different locations. Region-specific Waves Ducks NFTs include Queen Elizabeth II in the UK; Benjamin Franklin in the US; Salvador Dali in Spain; and Albert Einstein in Germany, among other exclusive location-based characters.

Sasha Ivanov, Founder of Waves, said: “We are delighted to share the incredible results from the Duck Hunt beta phase and excited to see how the ecosystem evolves in the global launch. The Waves technology stack is structured to enhance the value proposition of any use case, as the Waves Duck team has clearly proven. By harnessing the easy-to-use tokenization features of the protocol, along with an industry-first Augmented Reality game environment, Duck Hunt has provided gaming aficionados a unique and rewarding experience that we are sure will be an even bigger hit in the months to come.”
