Originally founded by Pechenik in 2016, Calyx Law has earned international recognition as a trailblazing intellectual property firm in the life sciences.
The new partnership represents both a continuation and an expansion, building on a nearly decade-long foundation while extending the firm’s reach into other transformative technologies including artificial intelligence (AI), decentralized science (DeSci), blockchain, robotics, neurotechnology, semiconductors, and fintech.
Frank Gerratana brings over 17 years of experience as a technology and IP attorney, specializing in patent law. He previously served as a partner in the Boston offices of global law firms. Gerratana’s deep technical background, including advanced degrees in computer science and electrical engineering, uniquely positions him to advise both innovative startups and Fortune 500 companies on complex patent strategies.
Named one of the “World’s Leading IP Strategists” by Intellectual Asset Management magazine, Gerratana’s insights into emerging technologies have appeared in Business Insider, The New York Times DealBook, and Financier Worldwide Magazine.
Graham Pechenik founded Calyx Law following experience at Quinn Emanuel in San Francisco and Kaye Scholer in New York, where he asserted and defended some of the nation’s most valuable patents across the agricultural, chemical, pharmaceutical, biotech, and technology sectors, working on landmark cases both at trial and on appeal, including before the U.S. Supreme Court.
In addition to his current client work, Pechenik serves on several academic, nonprofit, and corporate advisory boards. He is recognized as a leading voice in psychedelics IP law and policy, including through a collaboration with the UC Berkeley Center for the Science of Psychedelics and his role as editor-at-large at Psychedelic Alpha.
