Halloran Farkas + Kittila LLP Launches New York Office

March 25, 2020 By Business Wire

The Firm's new office will be headed by partner Linda Lerner, an attorney with deep expertise in the regulation of financial markets, electronic trading, digital assets and corporate transactions

NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--#blockchain--The national corporate, litigation and IP law firm Halloran Farkas + Kittila LLP has announced the opening of its New York office, to better address the needs of financial services clients. The office is headed by new partner Linda Lerner, an attorney with deep expertise in the regulation of financial markets and their participants. She works with clients seeking to offer innovative products and services, and assists in gaining regulatory approval. “We are excited to welcome this extraordinary woman to expand our expertise in cutting edge financial products and services, including digital assets, areas that are largely underserved by other firms,” said Mike Halloran, a founding partner of HFK.

Ms. Lerner devotes much of her practice to the regulation of digital securities and is widely sought out for her expertise in obtaining approval for brokerage firms to offer these securities and to establish platforms for their trading. She works closely with SEC and FINRA senior staff to resolve challenging issues in the digital security space, including non-custodial solutions, stablecoins and other digital assets. Ms. Lerner is the founding chair of the American Bar Association Task Force on Offering and Trading Tokenized Securities and frequently writes and lectures on digital assets. “We work closely with firms as they develop digital asset strategies, and then work just as closely with regulators to ensure that those strategies can be implemented," said Ms. Lerner.

Ms. Lerner’s clients have included a broad range of institutions, from serving as in-house General Counsel for a brokerage firm seeking to operate one of the first electronic trading platforms to outside counsel for global financial institutions and startups. Her clients have launched innovative trading systems for equities, fixed income, fiat and cryptocurrency, derivatives and other instruments. She helps fintech firms develop product and market strategies and assists them to meet with regulators to become preferred providers of services.

Ms. Lerner has served on a number of Nasdaq and FINRA committees focused on, among other things, trade disputes, electronic trading platforms and trade reporting.

“New York is a key financial market center,” noted Ted Kittila, HFK’s managing partner. “We are excited to launch the New York office and look forward to continuing to work closely with our clients, both on their business growth and by advising them on a welter of often confusing regulatory requirements.”
