– Telegram creates its first blockchain platform service
– Iranian citizens have transferred $2.5 billion in cryptocurrency
– Bloomberg launches Bloomberg Galaxy Crypto Index (BGCI)
– UPbit, the biggest South Korean exchange, is suspected of fraud
– Ripple shares results of testing of its xRapid pilot projects

Telegram has created its first blockchain platform service, Telegram Passport, reports russian news source Vedomosti. Telegram users will be able to get identified by uploading once all the documents and personal data into the messenger to be later shared instantly with service providers.

Iranian citizens have transferred $2.5 billion in cryptocurrency amid the sanctions pressure. Iran’s national currency, rial, has continued to slip after the US pulled out of the nuclear accord.

Bloomberg in partnership with Galaxy Digital Capital Management LP, Michael Novogratz’ investment fund, has launched a new index, Bloomberg Galaxy Crypto Index (BGCI). The index will be tracking the performance of the largest digital assets, such as Ethereum, Monero, Ripple, ZCash, Bitcoin Cash, EOS, Litecoin, Dash and Ethereum Classic.

The Winklevoss twins have been awarded a patent for a system to operate exchange-traded products (ETPs) for cryptocurrencies. It will process derivative transactions for cryptocurrencies like bitcoin, Ethereum, Ripple, Dogecoin, as well as a number of less known altcoins.

The biggest South Korean exchange, UPbit, is suspected of fraud. South Korea’s authorities have raided UPbit’s offices.

Ripple has shared the results of testing of its pilot projects related to xRapid. Using the technology and XRP saves between 40% to 70% in transaction commissions.

Graphic cards used to mine cryptocurrency have earned Nvidia $289 million in the first quarter of 2018 alone. Yet, in the future the company forecasts the demand will decrease by two thirds.

As of Friday Huawei owners have been able to download a bitcoin wallet from BTC.com in the AppGallery, Huawei’s proprietary online app store. AppGallery will be installed on all new Huawei smartphones.
