New plugin from Coinbase allows online stores to accept cryptocurrency

August 4, 2018 By Vitali Maldashou

Coinbase, a major US crypto exchange, has launched a program that allows accepting Bitcoin, Bitcoin Cash, Ethereum and Litecoin at multiple stores across the globe.

Merchants who use WooCommerce – open-source e-commerce platform used by over three million sites – are now close as never to taking digital money for purchases.

Users will be able to pay with Bitcoin, Bitcoin Cash, Ethereum and Litecoin. Coinbase stated it had started work on developing solutions to bring cryptocurrency into people’s day-to-day activity.

As laid out in the company’s blog, “for merchants using WooCommerce, one of the most popular eCommerce platforms on the web, it’s now easier than ever to start accepting cryptocurrencies as a form of payment. The widely-used plugin powers more than 28% of all online stores — and all of them now have access to cryptocurrency payments from customers around the world.”

At the beginning of August Coinbase added the British pound (GBP) support. The UK users can now instantly transact in the national fiat currency.
