WHAT:
Cosmos and Interop Ventures are set to kick off EthCC with Sovereign EVM Day, a half-day summit taking place in Cannes on June 30th from 12 – 5 PM. The event will spotlight the rise of sovereign EVM chains, Ethereum-compatible chains with fully customized environments and built-in interoperability powered by Cosmos’s IBC (Inter-Blockchain Communication) Protocol.
Sovereign EVM Day is part of the new Sovereign Series, a curated set of events championing modular innovation and sovereign ecosystems that come together to combine their technologies. This inaugural event will bring together leading builders, developers, investors, and ecosystem contributors exploring the next evolution of the EVM smart contract platform, where Ethereum tooling meets modular, sovereign blockchain architecture. The event showcases projects built on the Cosmos stack that work across various ecosystems, including Cosmos, Ethereum, L2s, Telegram’s TON, Ripple, and Bitcoin.
The day at Sovereign EVM features a lineup of visionary speakers from across blockchain. Interchain Labs’ co-CEOs, Barry Blunkett and Maghnus Mareneck, will explore why Cosmos is the best tech stack to build an EVM-compatible chain and share news about the Cosmos Stack’s EVM evolution. Marco Monaco, founder of TAC, will also share fresh perspectives on the rise of sovereign EVM chains such as his own, bringing Telegram’s 1 billion users on-chain. Luke Judges, Director at Ripple, will discuss cross-chain possibilities and real-world applications enabled by XRPL, Ripple’s Cosmos-powered EVM Side-chain. XRPL will bring DeFi to XRP’s $100 billion market.
Throughout the day, discussions will weave through interoperability, highlighting contributions like the Stride DEX’s role in liquid staking and bold visions for taking Bitcoin everywhere. Expect a dynamic blend of technical depth, visionary ideas and community-driven stories that highlight the vibrant future of Sovereign EVM.
