Season 2 aims to address the rapid surge in short-form interactive entertainment by challenging builders to create bite-sized, high-intensity game loops. While Season 1 demonstrated the platform capability to create games across diverse genres, Season 2 shifts focus toward player retention, replayability, and moment-to-moment game feel. To guide participants, the camp introduces three design pillars for submissions: Short, Simple, and Tense.
- Short: Game sessions designed for 1-to-2-minute runs with instant retry loops, built to be picked up on the bus or in a queue.
- Simple: Intuitive mechanics that players understand within three seconds without tutorials or walls of text.
- Tense: Real-time arcade action where hands-on player skill matters, and one mistake costs the entire run on the spot.

As standard AI tools often generate predictable or generic game ideas when given basic prompts, MSU Space takes a different approach in Season 2. The platform now features an integrated AI Brainstorming Persona to help builders discover truly original concepts.
Rather than jumping straight to code generation from raw commands, the AI acts as an interactive thought partner before development begins. Builders can start with a rough concept or no idea at all, engaging in collaborative prompt sessions with the AI guide. Throughout this interactive process, the AI assistant actively stress-tests game loops, suggests unexpected mechanic twists, and pushes back on weak ideas to ensure core mechanics fit the campaign theme while seamlessly incorporating iconic MapleStory lore, characters, and assets.
Campaign Schedule, Judging, and Event Details
The four-week global game jam officially opens on August 18, 2026, at 06:00 UTC, with submissions closing on September 15, 2026, at 06:00 UTC, followed by the winners announcement on October 8.
Builders will compete for a total prize pool valued at $15,000 USD paid in $NXPC tokens, with shortlisted titles in the Official Selection receiving an equal share of a dedicated baseline pool alongside individual awards for top overall placements, category excellence, community favorites, and a specialized Golden Jank award recognizing functional physics absurdities. Participation is free, allowing anyone to log into Verse8, connect an MSU Builder account for weekly AI credit refills, and submit their published games before the September 15 deadline.
