SonarX Names ex-Amazon Blockchain Product Head as Chief Product Officer

May 20, 2025 By Crypto Reporter PR

SonarX, the leading provider of institutional-grade blockchain data infrastructure, announced that Sergio Capanna, former Head of Amazon Managed Blockchain, has joined the company as Chief Product Officer. SonarX powers real-time and historical data access across 100+ blockchains, serving enterprises, financial institutions, and crypto-native platforms with scalable data products built for enterprise-grade performance. This hire marks a major milestone in SonarX’s mission to build the scalable, resilient data infrastructure needed for blockchain to fulfill its role as the new plumbing of global finance, payments, and all other transfer of value.

“The demand for our infrastructure is skyrocketing because every digital asset is blockchain-agnostic by design,” said Patrick Kim, CEO and Co-Founder of SonarX. “Even assets on a single chain are built for interoperability. As new blockchains emerge, the complexity of indexing and querying that data grows—and we’ve solved that problem. With Sergio joining us, we’re primed to accelerate our next phase of product innovation. His expertise and vision will be key in scaling our foundational data layer to support blockchain’s growth and drive the transformation of the global financial system.”

With senior roles spanning AWS and Bloomberg, Capanna brings deep market expertise and a clear vantage point into the needs of enterprise-grade financial infrastructure. At AWS, he worked directly with financial institutions, enterprise, fintechs, and the public sector working in the deployment of blockchain technology —and saw firsthand the challenges of managing fragmented, fast-evolving, multi-chain ecosystems.

SonarX addresses that challenge directly. With 100+ blockchains covered and a system designed for hyper-scale indexing, SonarX provides full historical and real-time data that meets institutional requirements for precision, consistency, and speed.

“We are witnessing one of the most significant transformations in financial infrastructure in decades,” said Sergio Capanna, Chief Product Officer at SonarX. “Blockchain technology is increasingly being adopted by financial institutions as the new rails for transactions and value transfer—reshaping the role of critical market infrastructure providers like Bloomberg, ICE, LSEG, DTCC, SWIFT, and Broadridge. SonarX has built the foundational data layer to support this shift at scale, and we’re excited to lead the next phase of product innovation to help bring this transformation to life.”

With 2025 shaping up to be a pivotal year for institutional blockchain adoption, driven by increasing regulatory clarity, the rise of stablecoin frameworks, and accelerating real-world asset tokenization, SonarX is expanding its infrastructure to meet rapidly growing demand. As financial institutions, regulators, stablecoin issuers, and tokenized asset platforms move toward production-grade deployment, they require a data foundation that is scalable, precise, and trustworthy. SonarX provides that foundation by powering mission-critical use cases across financial institutions, auditors, tax and accounting software, wallet infrastructure, custodians, exchanges, risk intelligence, and analytics platforms. Its infrastructure offers entire blockchain history, real-time access, and data quality built to institutional standards.

“This is about building the pipes for how value will move in the 21st century,” said Jesse Bornstein, Chief Commercial Officer at SonarX. “We’re not just indexing chains—we’re creating the infrastructure layer that allows digital assets to be usable, trusted, and integrated into the financial system. Sergio joining us validates how critical that mission is, how far we’ve come in delivering it, and how large the opportunity is going forward.”
