Under the strong support of the Algerian Ministry of Strategy and Knowledge, Numidia Valley and Lamina1 have joined forces in a landmark initiative to position Algeria as a hub for next-generation gaming, sports, and entertainment. Lamina1, a leading U.S.-based digital content and entertainment platform, partners with Numidia Valley—an advisory leader driving high-level technology and innovation initiatives within the government. Through this collaboration, Algeria aims to empower local talent, accelerate digital content creation, and enhance its global presence in the evolving tech and entertainment landscape.
With the rapid expansion of Algeria’s digital ecosystem, the partnership is set to support key initiatives through three main pillars:
Gaming: Lamina1’s Space will serve as the primary platform for publishing video games developed by a government-backed cohort of game creators, offering IP-specific fan communities with premium AI features, token-gated content, co-creation opportunities, integrated storefronts, and dynamic social interaction. This initiative will be bolstered by a dedicated grant program to foster local game development and innovation.
Sports: In collaboration with Algeria’s national football club, Lamina1 and Numidia Valley will launch “The Fennecs” (the team’s mascot and Algeria’s national animal) Space – a web3 and AI-powered hub that will provide exclusive content and immersive fan engagement opportunities with the team. The Space will kick off with an exclusive mini-game as it looks to become a premier digital destination for fans ahead of the 2026 World Cup.
Education & Entertainment: To equip the next generation of creators, a blockchain-chain e-learning curriculum will be developed that leverages Lamina1’s tech. With 2 million students—80% of whom are women in STEM—the program will provide education in content creation, with ongoing discussions to expand across other nations in the region.
Noureddine Ouadah, Algeria’s Minister of Knowledge Economy, Startups, and Micro-Enterprises, emphasized the country’s unwavering commitment to technological progress: “As the third-largest economy in Africa, Algeria has both the opportunity and responsibility to drive innovation and set new benchmarks for digital transformation across the continent. Our youth are tech-savvy, ambitious, and ready to lead, and we are committed to empowering them with the tools, education, and global partnerships needed to shape the future of gaming, sports, and education. This collaboration with Lamina1 is a major step in integrating next-generation technology into our ecosystem, fostering homegrown talent, unlocking new economic opportunities, and positioning Algeria as a driving force in Africa’s digital revolution.”
Algeria has emerged as a key driver of technology and entrepreneurship on the continent and throughout the region. Over the past three years, the country has hosted the African Startup Conference, which in 2024 gathered over 25,000 attendees from 50+ countries, 45+ ministers, 200+ startups, and 100+ investors. The next edition is set for December 2025.
In the entertainment and sports domain, Algeria is making significant strides with the upcoming launch of Dzair Media City later this year. Covering 74 hectares, this will be Africa’s largest media project, housing national TV and radio stations, a press house, and other media organizations.
Yasmina Kazitani, Co-founder of Numidia Valley, added: “At Numidia Valley, we are committed to positioning Algeria at the forefront of Africa’s digital transformation. Our collaboration with Lamina1 is a testament to this vision, aiming to empower our tech-savvy youth with cutting-edge tools and global opportunities. By integrating advanced technologies into gaming, sports, and education, we are nurturing homegrown talent and establishing Algeria as a leader in the continent’s digital revolution.”
Co-founded by legendary technologist Neal Stephenson, the creator of the term “metaverse,” Lamina1 is building the infrastructure needed to support a decentralized, creator-led economy for immersive digital content, gaming, and interactive experiences. With an emphasis on scalability, interoperability, and sustainability, Lamina1 provides a robust foundation for developers to build, distribute, and monetize their digital creations in a fair and transparent ecosystem.
The platform powers next-generation digital content and enhanced monetization models, giving creators unprecedented control over their content. By leveraging blockchain technology, Lamina1 fosters a digital landscape where ownership, creative rights, and user engagement are prioritized, ensuring long-term viability for digital economies.
Geraldine Pamphile, Chief Operations & Business Officer of Lamina1, expressed enthusiasm for the collaboration: “Lamina1’s mission is to provide access to and facilitate the adoption of cutting-edge experiences in digital entertainment and gaming. Partnering with the Algerian government and Numidia Valley allows us to support a thriving ecosystem of creators, developers, and entrepreneurs who will shape the future of immersive digital experiences. We are excited to help bring these innovations to life and contribute to Algeria’s vision for the future.”
This collaboration with Lamina1 marks a transformational step in Algeria’s digital evolution, reinforcing its commitment to innovation, education, and technological excellence on a global scale.
