Aptos Labs, the team creating better network tooling and seamless usability on the layer 1 blockchain Aptos Network, will offer support for the Ledger Nano hardware wallet via an integration with Petra, the Aptos-based wallet. The integration will provide next-level security in crypto asset management for users and decentralized applications (dApps) built on the Aptos network.
Petra offers a secure gateway for users on the Aptos network to store and send tokens, engage with digital collectibles, and interact with dApps built within the ecosystem. The integration with Ledger will allow Petra users to securely manage their crypto transactions while keeping private keys protected offline on their hardware devices, providing an additional level of security.
“Now more than ever, the Web3 industry is in need of trusted solutions to ensure crypto assets are effectively secured and safely managed. Since day one, we have been committed to providing a safe place for the Aptos community to build,” said Mo Shaikh, co-founder and CEO of Aptos Labs. “Through our integration with Ledger Nano, we’re able to provide our community with a seamless and trusted solution for protecting crypto assets through one of the most reliable hardware wallet solutions available today.”
Ledger Nano is a bluetooth-enabled hardware device that easily connects to both mobile and desktop platforms. It provides crypto users with a streamlined way to store assets offline without relying on software solutions which are often prone to phishing schemes and hacks. Ledger first offered support for the Aptos ecosystem via an integration between Ledger Live and Pontem, another Aptos-based wallet, in January.
“At Ledger, we’re always looking to partner with leading Web3 projects who share our vision for advancing the next-generation of security solutions for decentralized crypto management,” said Carl Anderson, VP of Engineering, Consumer at Ledger. “Partnering with Aptos was a clear choice for us – the Aptos network has grown exponentially in a short period of time, and we look forward to joining our ecosystems and working with their team to build a more trusted, secure Web3.”
To connect a Petra wallet to Ledger, users simply install the Aptos app on the hardware device and create a new Ledger Aptos account via the Petra wallet chrome extension.
