Bringing Bitcoin’s Liquidity to Cardano: EMURGO, a blockchain company that supports Web3 adoption via the Cardano blockchain, announced a collaboration with BitcoinOS (BOS), the smart contract operating system for Bitcoin, to extend the benefits of Bitcoin’s $1.3 trillion in capital to Cardano DeFi users without intermediaries. Decentralization with Don Tapscott: Don Tapscott, Executive Chairman and CEO of the Blockchain Research Institute, highlighted blockchain’s potential to reshape five key areas: DeFi, DePIN, DeSci, arts, and planetary challenges. He argued for “pre-distributing wealth” through economic decentralization, which would allow more people to participate in and benefit from wealth creation, transforming enterprises so that shareholders and workers become unified stakeholders.
Reflecting back on the event in full, Frederik Gregaard, CEO of Cardano Foundation, saw an underlying theme reveal itself: the transformative potential of combining established and emerging technologies across multiple fields. “The Cardano Summit has shown that by bringing together AI, blockchain, and other emerging technologies, we can address some of the world’s most complex challenges,” Frederik shared. “The full potential of blockchain is still being discovered, and through continued education and collaboration, we’re unlocking new possibilities that will enable industries and society to thrive in ways once thought impossible.”

The event concluded with the Cardano Summit Awards 2024, recognizing excellence across multiple categories. Notable winners included NMKR for Best Infrastructure Platform, Minswap for Best DEX and DAO Tooling, and Empowa for Best Blockchain for Good. The “Battle of the Builders” competition saw Landano emerge victorious among early-stage Cardano startups.
