Dimitra Launches New Initiative to Facilitate ESG Compliance in the Agribusiness Sector

August 15, 2024 By Crypto Reporter PR

Dimitra, a global leader in agricultural technology and sustainability solutions, announces the launch of Dimitra ESG, a service designed to provide environmental, social and governance (ESG) maturity mapping and policy implementation for the agribusiness sector. The initiative, already adopted by the Brazilian Association of Producers and Exporters of Fruits and Derivatives (ABRAFRUTAS), aims to meet the growing demand for ESG practices among agribusiness companies.

Dimitra ESG works in two steps: First, Dimitra carries out a comprehensive assessment process, known as ESG maturity mapping, for companies and cooperatives, using a specialized form to measure existing knowledge and practices related to ESG. Dimitra then leverages artificial intelligence (AI) for comprehensive assessments and blockchain technology for transparency and data integrity, providing cutting-edge solutions to enhance sustainability efforts. Based on these results, Dimitra ESG provides specialized consulting to develop and implement customized ESG policies and programs tailored to companies’ specific requirements, enabling them to improve their sustainable practices and increase their global competitiveness.

To employ these new customized ESG policies, companies can leverage Dimitra tools such as Dimitra Carbon to offset carbon emissions, or Dimitra’s RWA initiative to improve the transparency of farmers’ and companies’ sustainability efforts, allowing for the tracking of the entire lifecycle of a crop, from seedling to consumer.

Jessé Rovira, Brazil Sales Director for Dimitra Incorporated said: “With increasing global awareness of the importance of sustainability, ESG practices have become imperative for companies wishing to remain competitive in demanding markets. ESG criteria present a risk to several companies and cooperatives that are not yet prepared to meet these requirements, therefore impacting companies’ reputations and exclusion from international markets. We are thrilled to launch Dimitra ESG in collaboration with ABRAFRUTAS, with the mission to empower agribusiness companies to embrace sustainability, enhance their ESG practices, and thrive in a market that increasingly values responsible and sustainable operations.”

The fruit market in Brazil is one of the largest in the world, with substantial contributions to the national economy and local jobs. Brazil’s market regulations have historically been shaped by the European Union (EU), a major commercial ally. To thrive in EU member states, Brazilian firms have embraced elements of European compliance standards, such as rigorous environmental and labor regulations. Dimitra’s partnership with ABRAFRUTAS, whose associated members hold approximately 80 percent of the total volume of fresh fruit exported by Brazil, will help prove ESG compliance across the robust and dynamic Brazilian fruit markets through the digital transparency of blockchain. This in turn will ensure companies meet the demand for transparency, ethical sourcing, and sustainable operations to drive businesses across all sectors to adopt ESG practices, a crucial component for long-term success and market access.

Eduardo Brandão, CEO of ABRAFRUTAS said: “Partnering with Dimitra aligns perfectly with our commitment to promoting sustainability within the fruit export sector. This initiative will provide our members with the tools and guidance they need to meet global ESG standards and continue to excel in international markets.”

Dimitra ESG is available to any agribusiness company or cooperative seeking to add value to their products and reach new markets. This expansion aims to empower a broader range of organizations to embrace ESG principles and thrive in an increasingly sustainability-focused global economy.
