PlatON, the pioneering global privacy-preserving computing network, has announced the establishment of its global headquarters in Singapore. The expansion in Singapore marks a key milestone for PlatON as it develops a blockchain-based infrastructure tailored for the Southeast Asian market which will facilitate secure, seamless, and open data sharing for the public good. With a vibrant culture of innovation and fintech development, Singapore is an ideal hub for PlatON’s expansion as the organisation aims to work closely with local authorities and build connections with enterprises across Southeast Asia.
The launch of PlatON’s Singapore headquarters was announced at an exclusive event during this year’s Singapore FinTech Festival which was attended by local financial regulators, statutory boards, local financial institutions as well as prominent business leaders.
Xinjun Liang, Co-Founder of Fosun Group, the Chinese international conglomerate and investment company, said, “As one of the world’s leading global privacy-preserving infrastructures, PlatON’s mission is to enable the transformation of the traditional financial industry into a highly-efficient platform. No longer limited within traditional centralised networks, we aim to change the way data is used in order to realise its true value.” Liang spoke at the event and was also invited to join PlatON as Chief Advisor.
Founded by early blockchain advocates, Dr Feng Xiao and Lilin Sun, PlatON is a global trustless computing architecture and one of the pioneers in China’s blockchain industry. To date, PlatON has worked with leading industry players such as Wanxiang, the largest automotive component manufacturer in China to co-develop data infrastructure for the country’s biggest smart city project in Hangzhou. Mercedes-Benz and Minsheng Life Insurance have also partnered with PlatON to handle data in a way that safeguards the ownership and privacy, building a free and secure market for data using blockchain technology. To advance blockchain development, Dr Feng Xiao founded Wanxiang Blockchain Labs in 2015, a non-profit research institution focusing on blockchain technology development.
Ran Yang, Chief AI Officer at PlatON, said “Ranked as the smartest city in 2019, Singapore is the perfect location for PlatON’s global headquarters as the city continues to innovate and develop towards a digital future. Safeguarding data privacy is crucial across global industries ranging from healthcare, IoT, to financial services. With our privacy-preserving technologies that have the potential to solve real-world problems, PlatON is proud to work with Singapore’s forward-thinking local authorities and business leaders as we continue to position the region as a driver of digital advancement.”
