Social gaming-focused publisher Arrivant today announces that its debut Web3 game Project Eluüne: StarGarden, a Play-to-Own creature battler with social RPG mechanics, will be available on Polygon, citing the network’s sustainability initiatives and growing focus on offering unique value to gaming companies.
Over the past few months, Project Eluüne was being developed solely within the Solana ecosystem, building a community of over 26,000 people across its Discord channel and Twitter. However, Polygon’s dedication to sustainability, coupled with the recent hirings of AAA talent for its gaming initiatives, has created a perfect environment to accelerate Arrivant’s vision for bringing people together through gamified social experiences.
“Polygon Studios’ gaming-related initiatives are among the best in the industry, and we are thrilled to become a part of this thriving ecosystem,” noted Cedric Gamelin, CEO and co-founder of Arrivant. “We believe Polygon is building an environment well-suited to welcome the next generation of gamers into the space. While we are planning to become a cross-chain project serving players wherever they want to play – we are quite confident many of them will be choosing to play on Polygon.”
To fully implement its vision, Arrivant has also acquired a license to use Unreal Engine 5 (UE5), the world’s most open and advanced real-time 3D creation tool for photoreal visuals and immersive experiences. Switching to UE5 from Unity — the engine that was initially used during the game’s prototyping phase — will allow Project Eluüne: StarGarden to offer players a truly lush, vibrant, and immersive world that can stand on equal footing with major traditional AAA games. The Arrivant team is made up of AAA talent as well with alums from Epic Games, EA, Sega, Kabam, and Zynga to name a few.
At the same time, the team is currently finalizing a $5 million seed funding round led by C2 Ventures. Also among the participants are Polygon, 6th Man, Lightspeed, Everyrealm, Morningstar, Avalaunch, Big Brain Holdings, Ancient8, and other investors that support Arrivant’s vision of fun, social-first gameplay.
Project Eluüne: StarGarden will invite players to explore a fantastical sci-fi universe where they will be able to recruit, craft, train, upgrade, and merge numerous creatures in a quest to heal a shattered world. The game will be free-to-play and is designed around forming “tribes” — the equivalent of guilds or clans from other massively multiplayer projects. Namely, users will be able to engage in both Tribe vs. Environment (TvE) and Tribe vs. Tribe (TvT), where they will strategize collectively to decide which creatures from their roster to put into the battle arena.
The world of Eluüne will consist of scattered floating land masses that serve as players’ bases and hubs for social interaction. Each of these flying islands — called StarGardens — is represented by “smart,” evolvable non-fungible tokens (NFTs) that users can truly own. At the same time, Arrivant’s innovative approach to NFTs will also offer players some unique opportunities for collecting, crafting, and showcasing their skills in the game.
For example, in addition to traditional and dynamic NFTs, players will also be able to earn non-transferable SoulBound NFTs (SBTs), allowing them to showcase accomplishments in the game and help build persistent reputations across the Eluüne ecosystem.
“At its core, our game is about social dynamics,” said Craig Allen, Arrivant’s Chief Strategy Officer. “So enabling players to become recognized for their achievements in our ecosystem – whether or not they purchased an item or creature – is really important for social flexing, and our partnership with Polygon will open the door to many innovative possibilities along these lines.”
As an example of Arrivant’s focus on digital identity and delivering a meaningful player reputation system, the team has just launched an Early Access Alpha to Mission Control which features an extendable Player Passport for tracking, verifying and celebrating individual player progress and social status in the game. The first players to join Mission Control will gain special access to future events and unique recognition by the community.
“Project Eluüne: StarGarden is one of Web3’s stand-out titles that genuinely puts player experience, engagement, and innovation first,” added Urvit Goel, Head of Games BD at Polygon. “We are honored to welcome such a talented team to the Polygon family and excited to support Arrivant’s growth and enticing game design goals centered around meaningful new relationships between players.”
