Unity Wallet, the self-custodial crypto and Web3 wallet redefining user-friendly digital asset management, has partnered with the NEAR Foundation. Through this partnership, Unity Wallet will integrate key NEAR features and introduce an AI Assistant. The collaboration combines NEAR’s advanced infrastructure with Unity Wallet’s intuitive design to simplify and enhance the in-wallet user experience.
The integration will leverage AI agents to eliminate complexity and lower the technical barriers often associated with crypto and self-custody. Through the AI Assistant, Unity Wallet will make it easier for users to access DeFi, dApps, and digital assets. The partnership empowers users to navigate Web3 confidently — with no prior crypto expertise required.
With the recent release of version 8.7.0, Unity Wallet delivered the first major milestones of the partnership by integrating the following NEAR-based features:
- NEAR Staking: Allows users to earn passive rewards by staking NEAR and supporting network security. Unity Wallet makes staking accessible and straightforward for both beginners and experienced users.
- NEAR Intents (Beta): Simplifies token swaps by allowing users to state their goal, while off-chain solvers handle routes, fees, and bridges. The result is a fast, low-cost, cross-chain swap — without the technical hurdles.
- NEAR Wallet Selector: A streamlined alternative to WalletConnect that enables seamless access to over 1,000 NEAR dApps through a single, unified interface.
AI Assistant is coming to Unity Wallet in the next update (v8.9.0) in early August. It will assist users with everyday tasks and questions, helping simplify decision-making and reducing the need to manually navigate complex steps. Users will be able to ask about ramping, staking, checking balances, asset allocation, recovery phrases, and how to execute efficient cross-chain swaps — all through a conversational interface.
Importantly, AI Assistant will not act autonomously and will always require human input to proceed. Designed to guide rather than take control, it will enhance onboarding, improve outcomes, and streamline actions — bringing greater clarity, confidence, and ease to self-custody, all within Unity Wallet’s intuitive interface.
This marks the beginning of a broader collaboration aimed at redefining the way people interact with Web3.
James Toledano, COO at Unity Wallet: “Web3 shouldn’t require a manual. With our deep integration of NEAR’s infrastructure—including Wallet Selector, Intents, and staking—we’re making everyday crypto actions radically simpler. And with AI Assistant, we’re taking the next step: providing real-time guidance that helps users navigate self-custody with confidence. The AI doesn’t act for you—it empowers you. Every action remains human-led, but far more intuitive and efficient. As a company Unity Wallet is positioning itself at the forefront of self-custody adoption for a broader, global audience.”
Illia Polosukhin, Co-Founder of NEAR Protocol: “NEAR is building the blockchain for AI, where smart agents, verifiable execution, and user ownership converge. Unity Wallet is one of the first teams to truly harness this vision, bringing NEAR’s AI-native infrastructure to life in a way that feels intuitive and empowering. With staking, intents, and AI Assistant, Unity is showing what it means to make Web3 accessible through AI, without compromising on control or decentralization.”
