As Dibbs builds the foundational technologies to bridge collectibles from the physical to the digital, it adds new seller capabilities as well as new item types and verticals
LOS ANGELES--(BUSINESS WIRE)--#NFT--Dibbs, the real-time, blockchain-enabled marketplace for collectors, today announced new seller capabilities for Sell With Dibbs as well as expansion into new types of items that can be collected across the Dibbs platform. New card types include gaming with the addition of Pokémon and new verticals include comic books. Now Sell With Dibbs gives collectors new opportunities to sell all or a portion of collectibles that are not already available on Dibbs.
“At Dibbs we’re solving the complex problem of making physical collectibles accessible in an increasingly digital-first world. The full opportunity that the metaverse will offer for collectors and consumers is still being written, yet we are committed to building the infrastructure layer to enable physical items to be enjoyed, shared, and exchanged in the growing digital ecosystem,” said Dibbs Founder and CEO, Evan Vandenberg. “While we are focused on the underlying enabling technologies for tomorrow, we are also meeting the demand of our current and growing user base: to use our platform to buy and sell more types of items across all verticals. We’re excited to bring Pokémon and comic books onto the platform. These additions are just the beginning of what will be a series of new collector opportunities in the months ahead.”
Sell With Dibbs empowers collectors of all kinds to acquire some of the most sought-after collectibles in the world directly from other Dibbs users. Since introducing Sell With Dibbs in December of 2021, Dibbs’ inventory has soared by nearly 30 percent as collectors add their own physical items to the platform. Sellers are now able to sell collectibles that aren’t currently listed on the Dibbs platform, opening up their personal collections to unique opportunities in the digital world to share, buy, and sell. Collectibles must meet a minimum market value of $2,500 and in the open market there must be a minimum of 50 of a given item. Sellers simply send their items directly to Dibbs' third party vaulting partners and they are held, insured, and tokenized at no cost. The first seller “drop” of this kind—a 2003 Pokémon Skyridge #146 Charizard Holo—quickly sold out and had hundreds of unique buyers, the most of any Dibbs drop.
Today’s expansion comes as a result of strong demand from collectors who want to enjoy the benefits of the Dibbs marketplace—stable pricing, instant buying and selling, and transparent fees—across a more diverse portfolio of their physical collectibles. Through Dibbs, these collections gain new levels of utility that will only grow in their application in the metaverse. The first Pokémon card on Dibbs—a 1999 Base Set Holo Charizard #4—sold out in less than an hour. The first comic book to come to the Dibbs platform—a 1974 Marvel Comics Incredible Hulk #181 CGC 9 mint—dropped last week and also quickly sold out.
Since launch, Dibbs has processed millions of dollars across hundreds of thousands of trades. Dibbs has raised more than $15 million in venture capital from a variety of notable investors, ranging from Amazon, Foundry Group and Tusk Venture Partners to athletes including Chris Paul, Channing Frye, DeAndre Hopkins, Kevin Love, Kris Bryant, and Skylar Diggins-Smith. Dibbs is available on iOS, Android, and the web. To join the team, please visit https://jobs.dibbs.io/.
