New voice capabilities launched to enhance hands-free communication experience
SAN JOSE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--$VCRA #HIMSS20--Vocera Communications, Inc. (NYSE:VCRA), a recognized leader in clinical communication and workflow solutions, will showcase enterprise strategies and innovations to improve clinician well-being and patient safety during educational sessions and demos at the 2020 HIMSS Conference and Exhibition, March 10-12. Serious workplace violence incidents are four times more likely to occur in healthcare environments than in private industry, which is why Vocera is focusing on issues that put patients and care teams at risk.
Fast, effective communication and how it impacts patient and staff safety is the focus of the HIMSS20 general session led by Deanna Parker, MBA, MHA, BSN, assistant vice president of emergency services at Hardin Memorial Hospital (HMH). Parker’s presentation on “Improving Communication, Patient Care and Staff Well-being” is Thursday, March 12, from 1-2 p.m. ET, in room W311A.
Learn how the emergency department at HMH implemented and adopted the hands-free Vocera Badge while onboarding new team members and serving thousands of patients during a $15 million construction project. In addition to patient and staff safety benefits, the hospital’s strategic approach to deployment and training was executed so well that within four months patient satisfaction scores and left without being seen rates showed significant improvements. Now, the hospital is seeing positive results in multiple sepsis metrics, too.
The HIMSS20 lightning session led by Vocera Chief Nursing Officer Rhonda Collins, DNP, RN, FAAN, will shine the spotlight on cognitive overload among nurses and doctors – a major issue that impacts care team well-being and patient safety. Don’t miss Dr. Collins Wednesday, March 11, at 10:15 a.m. ET, on the lightning theater stage, where she will discuss how intelligent, human-centered communication solutions can simplify workflows, reduce cognitive burden, and improve patient care, safety and experience.
More information about these educational opportunities is available on the Vocera website.
While at HIMSS20, Vocera will launch unique wake words to interact with the award-winning Vocera Smartbadge to provide an enhanced hands-free communication experience. Now, the simple phrase “Hey Vocera” or “Ok Vocera” enables clinicians and other users to interact instantly with the wearable device without touching it. Clinicians can simply say the wake word to their Smartbadge and start communicating and collaborating completely hands-free, even while scrubbed in or wearing surgical gloves. This new feature is now available and will be showcased among other product innovations in the Vocera booth (#2959).
