JAMS Launches ADR Technology Industry Group

May 12, 2026 By Business Wire

The group addresses the growing complexity and volume of tech-related disputes

IRVINE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--JAMS, the premier provider of alternative dispute resolution (ADR) services worldwide, announced the launch of its Technology Industry Group, a dedicated offering designed to address the growing volume and complexity of disputes stemming from rapid innovation across technology-driven industries.

The JAMS Technology Industry Group brings together mediation, arbitration and other ADR services tailored to disputes involving AI, intellectual property, software and SaaS, cybersecurity, cloud computing, blockchain, digital assets, FinTech, HealthTech, medical and biotechnology, telecommunications and digital platforms. The group reflects the evolving legal and commercial risks facing technology companies, legal tech teams and counsel operating in fast-changing environments both domestically and globally.

“The Technology Industry Group is a natural evolution of the work already taking place at JAMS. It provides a clearer framework for addressing disputes that involve technical subject matter, significant commercial stakes and increasingly complex regulatory considerations. By organizing this work into a dedicated industry group, we are making it easier for parties and counsel to engage the appropriate experience, procedural tools and operational support these matters often require,” said Kimberly Taylor, JAMS CEO and president.

Technology-centered conflicts frequently raise issues involving intellectual property ownership, software licensing, data privacy obligations, cybersecurity incidents, cloud service performance, smart contracts and digital transactions, as well as regulatory compliance across jurisdictions. JAMS’ Technology Industry Group offers a structured ADR forum capable of managing complex commercial and technical evidence while protecting trade secrets, source code and sensitive digital records.

JAMS’ panel includes former judges and practitioners with deep experience across enterprise software, AI, cybersecurity, FinTech, life sciences, intellectual property and other complex disputes. This group is well positioned to support matters involving cross-border data transfers, global platform operations and differing regulatory frameworks.

JAMS offers additional resources to support parties and counsel in technology disputes involving AI and smart contracts. Notably, JAMS was the first ADR provider to introduce a comprehensive set of arbitration rules specifically tailored for disputes involving AI. The AI Disputes Clause and Rules address the unique complexities of AI systems, including liability, algorithmic transparency and ethical considerations.

Extending this leadership into emerging technologies, JAMS was the first institutional ADR provider to launch a dedicated Smart Contracts, Blockchain and Cryptocurrencies practice and to develop protocols supporting the resolution of disputes arising from blockchain transactions, including smart contracts. The Smart Contract Clause and Rules build on this pioneering work, providing a structured framework for resolving complex smart contract disputes, guided by neutrals who combine legal judgment with practical fluency in blockchain and digital-asset systems.
